Amanda Alexiuc of Living Room of Satoshi on Crypto Clothesline Podcast

Published: Feb. 8, 2019, 5 a.m.

This interview with Amanda Alexiuc from Living Room of Satoshi (LROS) was long anticipated and still gives us warm fuzzies.  Not just because Amanda is our friend but because the Living Room of Satoshi was our first paid sponsor when we were so small, even our family had to be reminded about that podcast thing we were doing.

The Living Room of Satoshi took a leap and trusted we knew a little bit about what we were doing and jumped in with us. For this we are forever grateful.

Amanda reminded us that the first moment we dip our toes into crypto waters can be  daunting, overwhelming and can often lead to a lifetime of learning: such a raw and volatile new space.

“I'm still a newbie,” she said. “I've only been doing this for 12 months, so there is so much to learn, but I think it's an evolving space. So it was kind of in a continual learning environment at the same time.”

Something most of us can agree on is the sheer awesomeness of LROS and what it has done for crypto in Australia. With a brand new app enabling payments on the Lightning Network this once tiny start-up is still accepting input from the community with the intention to make crypto payments in Australia as easy as opening an app.

“We’re always taking recommendations, it's about the community and about what everybody else would like. So if anybody else wants to let us know what they like, just email us and then the more people that let us know then the more we can do.”

One thing many of us in the cryptosphere know is that when you are in a crypto start-up or newish business, it's hard yards. Especially in a bull run. Amanda shares that being a mum and finding that balance between work and family is hard but worth it.

“Everyone that I know who has a project is pretty much doing all-nighters and up until the early hours. We do have children but we’re having so much fun.  I'm loving it, and was talking to a girlfriend the other day about it. We were both working mums and we were like, okay, well…. All we have to do is find the balance between work and family. And then we both just laughed because I just don't know that there is one.”

LROS is inspired by Nakamoto’s vision: the intention of making crypto payments an everyday occurrence.  We thoroughly enjoyed having our friends from LROS on the show with us finally and encourage all our listeners to check out their new app and website.
