I guess it is goodbye, my beautiful night sky…
We all know that blockchain needs the internet as parties within a transaction have to be connected to the internet to verify the transaction, and once a transaction is verified then it is broadcast to all of the nodes which are connected on the network.
So, having internet access is important. Currently, our internet is delivered through a network of cables lacing the ocean floor. But Elon Musk had an idea, an idea that he implemented at the beginning of 2019, which is to fill our beautiful night sky with satellites. How many you ask? 40,000. Yes, forty thousand. With four zeros. The first lots have already been launched.
And he is not the only one who wants to clutter our night skies with more space junk (which does not include the Tesla that he launched into the galaxy as a marketing exercise). Bezos and Branson want to do the same. And other companies are also lining up, and countries. So, multiply that 40,000 by three, at least.
Join me, Aviva Ounap, as I talk about what is on my mind, and what is happening to ensure that blockchain thrives, but not at any cost.
