Happy Black History Month! Remember, Black history is OUR history. Rosewood was a prominent black community in Florida, that was destroyed by a lie, by a white woman, regarding an assault by a black man. The stories of rape, murder, looting, arson, and neglect by elected officials became a hushed secret, not spoken in public, but passed down at dinner tables from survivors to their children. It wasn’t until 1982 that survivors of the massacre spoke up and 1993 until their stories were publicly acknowledged. Content Warning: Lynching, Sexual Assault, Animal Cruelty.

Watch the trailer of the movie based on the massacre called Rosewood, directed by the late John Singleton and starring Jon Voight, Ving Rhames, and Don Cheadle.
