On this first episode of the podcast, I sat down with Kyle Mecca, who is a local casting director and non- union AD in Buffalo, NY. He also wrote and directed his own feature film "Dwelling" right after college. In this episode, Kyle shares how he began feeling depressed and confused right after he graduated college due to the uncertainty of finding work in the film industry. In spite of that, he began creating short films with other local filmmakers and decided to write a script for his own full-length film. Throughout the episode, we discuss how Kyle raised over 40k for his film "Dwelling" and how he got it distributed and sold into Walmart stores across the Country. He also shares how he became a local director, what their role and responsibilities are and what the standard SAG rate is for actors.
