You know networking is important, and that connection is important to help avoid burnout and set yourself up for a successful and sustainable career. So you reach out and friend and follow others, and they reach out and follow you and before you know it you are connected to all these people you don't actually know. And you aren't connecting with the people you want to connect with. So what do you do? Here are five steps.
\nINTENT
\nBe very clear on your purpose for networking, then you can curate and grow your network intentionally.
\nAUDIT
\nLook at your list of contacts - LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
\nINTROSPECTION
\nCONFIDENCE IN CONNECTION
\nIf you do want them in your network, and, want to strengthen the connection look at what YOU can share/offer.
\n
\nIt can be a perspective, an insight, a question, an opinion, a challenge, a story/experience, gratitude, an idea, the ability to share someones ideas/work with someone else - to be a link in the network.
PLANNING AND PATIENCE
\nLook ahead. what would you love to be doing? Who would you love to work with? what area would you love to work in? (this calls for knowing yourself, your values, your goals - allowing yourself to dream and connect in with the authentic you_

\nConnection in the mental health professional world can be difficult, but is necessary to avoid burnout and to have a satisfying and prolonged career.
\nTo increase connection start with an authentic and accepting understanding of yourself; then of others; then of a deep appreciation for how we are all connected to create positive change in the world. .
\nBy embracing your authenticity you invite confidence and calm into you life.
