The prophets in the Old Testament were remarkable people. They were men who had a high degree of spiritual development and consecration and they carried God's Word. They were God's spokesmen and all through Scripture, they thundered His Word to Israel and the nations. But they didn't just declare the word to Israel. They oftentimes had to become the word itself. They had to model the truth they carried, and they bore within themselves, something we call the Burden of the Lord. The Burden of the Lord is one of the great themes in the Word of God but rarely understood.
