During a text exchange Nicole and Eyembe discovered that they knew of similar sayings involving a \'long spoon\' or as Nicole\'s grandmother would frequently say, "Sometimes you have to feed people with a long handled spoon". This is a term used to indicate that you need to distance yourself from another party so they don\'t bite the hand that feeds them or exploit you. This lead to further exploration of the topic of things we always hear and say and how they persist throughout African cultures.
