I am Cocoa Griot just a 50 something who enjoys talking about life, love, and a host of other topics. Tonight, we are going to talk dirty. Specifically, dirty little secrets. I'm going to share some dirty little secrets with you that I believe can impact your life. So sit back, relax, and let's chat about those secrets. Oh, honey. Yes, I want to talk about honey for a moment. Ever wonder if you're getting the real thing, or just an imitation? Here's a little test to find out. Put some honey in a bowl with cold water, swirl it around a few times, and guess what should appear? If it is real, a honeycomb will show up. That's the natural genetic memory of honey. What happens if it just ripples in water. Well you have uncovered a dirty little secret. That is actually just honey, diluted with sugar syrup. 1:10 Let's talk dirty some more I'm enjoying this. We are really going there. This time you go to the grocery store in hopes of finding healthy fruits and vegetables, because you care about what you consume. Do you know that the price lookup numbers can tell you whether your product is conventionally grown with pesticides, or if it's organic? Who knew those four or five numbers held so much secret information? So let's say you have a taste for bananas. How do you know the difference between regular bananas and organic bananas? Okay, I know some of you are smarting off right now and saying the price, because those bananas that are organic would be $9,000, but there's really another way to look at this. The conventional bananas have, like, 4011, but if they're organic, there will be a nine placed in front of the 4011. Wow, exposing these secrets is really making me think about my food choices over the years. I thought the plu number was just telling me the price. Those numbers represent foods that can optimize or harm your health. So if a product starts with three or four. Please don't buy those anymore. If a product starts with a nine. Those are organic and just fine. You can look for the butterfly that signifies non GMO on products as well. 2:38 The next dirty little secret, involves a product I used to for years without question. This one really hit me hard because I thought I was doing something great for my health. Several campaigns warned us about artery clogging butter. Since my dad died of a stroke, and my mom died of a heart attack, I really have been on a mission to make sure I'm using heart healthy products. So why use this stealth killer, when you can have a convenient option in pam? Pam cooking spray is convenient. Not missing like butter. What drawbacks could there possibly be to this healthy kitchen staple? Well, imagine 3:27 PLEASE FAST FORWARD. the shock after the horror of the PAM can exploding and causing third degree burns, disfigurement, and even blindness? I don't know about you, but those documented incidents involving Pam, make me want to reach for a big old tub of butter. Okay. Many people don't realize the propellant that makes the oil sprayable is butane and propane. So even though these propellants are food grade, they are still dangerous when used near heat. Well, I used to buy Pam for cooking and so there was definitely heat involved. My guess is many people have done the same thing. This dirty little secret causes serious injury, and so I threw my can of Pam in the trash after I learned about the potential hazards of the spray. Now I get some better butter like Earth Balance. 5:03 So the next dirty little secret involves something that is so ridiculous. It has the potential to be funny, but it's actually not. This is the generally recognized as safe or gras designation of some foods. So it might be interesting to note there are about...
