Published: June 28, 2016, 1:36 p.m.

Dr. Jason Marshall is the director of the TURI Labs at the UMASS Lowell campus. The Cleaning Laboratory tests the performance of both industrial and janitorial cleaning products to encourage companies, institutions, and product formulators to choose and develop safer substitutes. Whether you're a metal finishing company, product formulator, facility manager or any organization looking for safer cleaning products and processes, the TURI Laboratory can help. The Cleaning Laboratory's mission since its inception in 1994, is to focus on cleaning methods and chemistries to evaluate the effectiveness of different cleaners and equipment for a variety of substrates and soils. EPA's Design for Environment, now Safer Choice, recognized the Cleaning Laboratory's work by designating the Laboratory as a champion in its Safer Detergents Initiative. How They Do It The Cleaning Laboratory uses standardized testing procedures for testing both industrial cleaning and janitorial cleaning products. We work with your existing conditions -- substrates, soils, contaminants, and cleaning equipment, in the lab and at your site. We offer performance validation testing for label certifications such as Green Seal or government purchasing programs. And, we can work with your product to identify an effective alternative formulation when necessary to fully meet the green certification that you seek. We provide onsite piloting with your equipment and your staff to make sure that the product and the process work well together. Search their CleanerSolutions Database for performance data on thousands of cleaning products.   Today’s freebie is two handouts about the TURI Labs and their work.
