b'Giri means a mountain. Ishaha \\u2013 the Lord. The Supreme Lord Shiva is the Lord of all great mountains like Himalayas, Meru, Mandara, Kailasa etc. In Harivamsha in a conversation between sage naarada and the mountains it is said:

O Bramha rishi ! We cannot be more thankful nor are we surprised. Our Lord is Shooli (one who holds the trident) gireesha - Lord of the mountains, vrushabhadhvaja - one who has the bull flag. There is nothing more surprising and nothing more to be thankful for, than the fact that he is our Lord. There is no other big surprise or nothing more to be thankful for than for him in the world .

A mountain is steady and still. Life on the mountains is hard. It also symbolises the entire spiritual journey.

Giri also means the world. Isha - the Lord. Gireesha means the Lord of the world or the Lord who is the world.
