Carrie & Firestarter

It's Stephen King month! In this episode of Chick Flicks, Bridget and McKenzie compare two movies about girls with frightening powers: Carrie and Firestarter. Bridget and Kenz wonder, why are movies/books/tv shows about girls getting super powers such bummers?

Carrie stars Sissy Spacek, John Travolta with a mullet, and Piper Laurie. It was directed by Brian de Palma and released in 1976. Firestarter was directed by Mark L. Lester and stars young Drew Barrymore, Martin Sheen, and actors we don't recognize from the eighties. Both movies are adaptations of Stephen King novels.

Chick Flicks is a feminist film review podcast hosted by McKenzie Chapman and Bridget Hovell. If you leave us a review, Bridget will write a short story about you as a Stephen King character!
