Lauren Cortez is a research professional with over 13 years of experience in military suicide prevention, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), military sexual trauma (MST), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and military caregiving primarily in clinical trials for behavioral, pharmaceutical, and medical device studies. As a current graduate student she weaves her experiences as a former military dependent and as a military suicide loss survivor in her studies at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, focusing on health equity in military veterans despite varied access and quality of care. The Help for Heroes® program was created to address the unique needs of military personnel, veterans, first responders and other high-risk frontline professionals.
