Roquan Smith Reverses Course and Will Play for the Bears in 2022

Despite his trade request and feeling disrespected by the Bears' new regime, All-Pro Roquan Smith has reversed course and will play this season without a new contract. Smith said he’s “betting on myself” and called negotiations “distasteful” while claiming the Bears put de-escalators in their offers. The team's third and final preseason game is Saturday in Cleveland, but chances are starters will get little to no action at all in that one. In addition, Bears rookie safety Jaquan Brisker had surgery to repair his injured thumb. Head Coach Matt Eberflus hopes he will be ready for Week One against San Francisco. Adam Hoge and Nicholas Moreano break it all down in today's CHGO Bears Podcast. Learn more about your ad choices.
