b'Chapelwood Road Trip - Sent: Sent to the Promised Future: One of the most interesting transitions in the Old Testament is in Genesis 12:1. Up until this point, the story has been the story of all humanity. But that story has ended in barrenness. The family of humanity has played out its future and has nowhere else to go. Barrenness is the way of human history unless God intervenes. Human power alone is insufficient for inventing a future. But our God is one who brings life-giving action into barrenness. The sending of Abraham and the sending of Christ will be paralleled as we revisit how God sends us into a promised future even when it seems barrenness is our current condition.
