William Blackstone, the famous judge and author, recorded of the event: \\u201cHis [Wesley\\u2019s] notes were demanded by the Vice-Chancellor [William Hodges], but on mature deliberation it has been thought proper to punish him by a mortifying neglect." And Wesley himself noted in his Journal: \\u201cI preached for the last time before the University of Oxford. I am now clear of the blood of these men. I have fully delivered my own soul.\\u201d'
