#14 Annarien from Port Hedland

Published: Feb. 16, 2021, 6 a.m.

From their first grocery shop on the day of their arrival, to buying their first car on day two in Australia – Annarien and her family embraced Australia with their arms wide open. From Adelaide to the Outbacks and then Perth to Port Hedland and back to Perth, the Robbertse family have truly experienced the opportunities that were granted to them in 2014 – the day they left South Africa to make a new home in Australia. They chose to do it right, by applying for a visa that would grant them Permanent Residency, to avoid the fear of having to be sent back to South Africa.

Hear how Annarien speaks from the heart of how her family dealt with this ‘momentous, scary and exciting occasion’ of emigrating to the Outbacks. It has been 6 years since she left South Africa and refers to Australia as the ‘land of milk and honey’. A land filled with a magnitude of opportunities, where South Africans thrive easily.
