During the most recent month, that number jumped to nearly 1,400. During Fiscal Year 2018 (which ended on September 30), U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the nine southwest border sectors apprehended an average of nearly 1,100 migrants per day. Of those, approximately 430 were listed as unaccompanied minors or family units, according to the Fiscal Year 2018 Southwest Border Migration Report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Border Patrol agents apprehended 396,579 illegal immigrants who crossed the border between ports of entry during the most recent fiscal year. This represents an average of 1,087 per day.
