Speaking on Business: #TestUtahChallenge

Published: April 10, 2020, 5 p.m.

This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. A challenge all states have is adequate testing capacity for the coronavirus. Here in Utah, through the spirit of collaboration, the government has engaged with private partners to develop mobile testing sites. To tell us more about it, here’s our Governor Gary Herbert. GOVERNOR GARY HERBERT Thank you, Derek, Utah has 600 ICU beds and 1000 ventilators, but the virus is doubling every four days which means testing is critical. When we assess and test it helps us better understand this virus and manage our resources. Testing will not only help us slow the spread of COVID-19 but help us target it and contain it, which is our goal. The Test Utah initiative has started testing 1000 additional people per day on top of state capacity. All you need to do is take a five-minute online assessment, and if a test is recommended you will get a QR code and the ability to schedule a test near you. If you feel you need a test, please go to testutah.com for the assessment, and help us crush the curve. DEREK MILLER The economic impact of the virus is being felt by all, and now we can all do our part to get screened and, when needed, get tested. Please use these resources. Together we can beat this virus. I’m Derek Miller, of the Salt Lake Chamber, and this is “Speaking on Business.” Originally aired: April 8, 2020.
