This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. Outstanding companies throughout Utah are taking up the torch to help those struggling to cope with the economic fallout of COVID-19. Aubriana Martindale, Smith’s Food and Drug’s Division Corporate Affairs Manager is with us to share what steps they are taking to help those in need. AUBRIANA MARTINDALE At Smith’s the health and wellbeing of our associates, customers and communities are always the top priority. In this challenging time, Smith is constantly monitoring and evolving its pandemic preparedness plan. This work, like all other work we do, is guided by our values of Safety, Honesty, Integrity, Diversity, Inclusion and Respect. To that end, we know this pandemic has caused strain on industries and families. At Smith’s we believe everyone deserves fresh food and we are mindful that the pandemic has resulted in more of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity—and we want to help. That’s why Smith’s and The Kroger Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation has directed $250,000 in donations to rapidly deploy hunger-relief resources to the communities we serve. We strive to make decisions that balance the safety of our associates and uphold our commitments to our customers. Above all, we’ll be there for our communities when they need us most.
