Speaking on Business: Intermountain Healthcare COVID-19 Emotional Health Relief Hotline

Published: April 15, 2020, 8:47 p.m.

This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. Mental health is a top priority in Utah. But now, the pandemic and our social adjustments make mental health care even more urgent -- particularly as almost one in five adults in Utah deal with related issues and suicide is a leading cause of death for our youth. The coronavirus amplifies these challenges, as treatment becomes more difficult, levels of activity change, and feelings of isolation creep into our lives. To meet these conditions, intermountain healthcare has launched an Emotional Health Relief Hotline. It’s for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to the pandemic, or for any other reason. If you need help, or you know someone who does, please call the COVID-19 Emotional Health Relief Hotline at 833-442-2211, or go to Intermountainhealthcare.org. There is no cost to call and speak to a caregiver, and the hotline is staffed seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. I encourage you to take advantage of this resource. Caregivers can provide appropriate tools, peer support, treatment options, crisis resources, and more. Remember the number to call is 833-442-2211 and is a free resource to all Utahns. Or visit intermountainhealthcare.org and click on the emotional health relief post. I’m Derek Miller, of the Salt Lake Chamber, and this is “Speaking on Business.” Originally aired on: April 15, 2020.
