In this tender story told by Zoe Monserrate, we have a chance to hear what it's like for the families of those who serve in the military to receive word that their loved one has given their life in the line of duty. Like a little soldier, she stepped up to do all she could as a young girl to help her parents and her younger siblings during their time of grief while hiding away her own grief.

Now, as an older woman, Zoe takes time to reflect on a life lived without her beloved older brother and yet lived with confidence and strength in a faithful God.

In honor of her brother Stephen and so many others who have lost their lives fighting for freedom, we share this story in remembrance of Veterans Day, November 11, 2017.
