After holding the No. 1 spot at\\nthe international box office for four straight weekends,\\nhowever (and as expected), he ceded the slot to\\nParamount\\u2019s Bumblebee which buzzed into China on Friday.\\nThe yellow Bug grossed $82.7M in 63 markets this session,\\nincluding China where it revved up with a No. 1 start of\\n$59.4M at 9,180 locations. With $6.1M from 584 Middle\\nKingdom IMAX screens, Bumblebee logged the format\\u2019s 3rd\\nbest January start there ever.\\nTransformers movies are typically strong in China, although\\n2017\\u2019s The Last Knightdidn\\u2019t catch fire the way Age Of\\nExtinction had in 2014. Bumblebee is a different kind\\nof Transformers and is connecting with local audiences giving\\n\\nit positive word of mouth. The Hailee Steinfeld-starrer has\\nChinese behemoth Tencent as an investor and co-marketing\\npartner. It will cross $200M offshore this week.\\nBehind Bee, Jason Momoa\\u2019s heir to Atlantis added $56.2M at\\nthe international box office this weekend, swelling the\\nworldwide cume to $940.7M. Of that, $681M is from\\noverseas where the James Wan-directed origins story\\ntopped The Dark Knight Riseson Friday to become the biggest\\nDC movie ever abroad.\\nThe offshore drop on Aquaman this session was 41% across 79\\nmarkets. Warner Bros\\u2019 fish guy is on course for the $1B global\\nmilestone, possibly through next weekend. In\\nAsia, Aquaman is WB\\u2019s highest-grossing movie ever and has\\ntaken $282.8M from China where it\\u2019s the No. 2 superhero pic\\nof all time.\\nElsewhere, Disney\\u2019s Mary Poppins Returns swept past $250M\\nglobal and $100M internationally, led by the UK and Italy. In\\nthe former, Emily Blunt\\u2019s version of the magical nanny has\\nbeen No. 1 for each of its 17 consecutive days of release.\\nAlso from Disney, Ralph Breaks The Internet broke into some\\nmore key markets during its continued staggered release and\\nhad great results in Italy, Korea and Brazil. The global cume\\nhas now topped $400M.\\nUniversal/Illumination\\u2019s The Grinch is closing in on $500M\\nworldwide this week while Uni/DreamWorks\\nAnimation\\u2019s How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden\\nWorldhad a terrific launch Down Under.
