There is one simple principle in the Bible that explains nearly everything. It crops up in various places and is usually ignored because it seems so unreasonable and runs counter to what we would expect.

When we read something, it is all too human to see what we expect to see—or what we want to see. I know people ignore it because of the questions they ask about God and the Bible. I think people ignore it because it just seems so implausible.

This principle is salted in various places around the Bible, but let me give you just one example. This one is found in the beginning of the Book of James.
