Finding Work With A Disability

On average 70% of blind and low vision people in the Western world are unemployed despite wanting to and being able to work. On this weeks’ episode on international day of people with a disability I discuss my experiences with work. Speaking to career advisors who didn’t understand how I could work, whether to disclose or not your disability in the interview process and what happens. Using job agencies that advertise their expertise in this area only to tick boxes or have a case worker who doesn't know how you can use a computer even though they are your supposed gateway to a job. Most importantly the impact it has on your self-worth, long term unemployment, financial independence and security, emotional and physical.
