Guiding Emily: A Tale of Love, Loss, and Courage. A New Book from Best Selling Author Barbara Hinske

Published: June 12, 2020, 1:09 p.m.

Barbara Hinske joins Jeff Thompson in the Blind Abilities studio to talk about the new release of her book, Guiding Emily A Tale of Love, Loss and Courage. Barbara tells us how her visit to the Foundation for Blind Children in phoenix, Arizona inspired her to support the foundation by doing what she does best, write a book and donate half the proceeds to the Foundation for Blind Children.

Barbara took white cane training and attended Guide Dogs for the Blind campus to get a bit of understanding what going blind may be like. By the way, Barbara is sighted and it was only after 30 years of driving by the Foundation did she get the opportunity to tour and find out more about all the work being done for so many. Barbara wanted to help and that is how Guiding Emily was born.

Barbara remembers how she started as a book writer and gives some great advice to aspiring authors.

Barbara is the best-selling author of the Rosemont Series and the Christmas Club, of which was made into a Hallmark movie.

She has also release the murder mystery, Deadly Parcel.  Be sure to check out her web site at https://barbarahinske.com

Sometimes the perfect partner has four paws...

Emily Main had it all: a high-powered career with a leading technology giant and a handsome fiancé bounding up the corporate ladder. Their island wedding and honeymoon were idyllic-until a tragic accident causes her retinas to detach.

Her well-ordered life is shattered as all treatments are unsuccessful and she slips into blindness. How will those around her cope with her tragedy? Can she rebuild her life in this most unwelcome, new normal?

Meanwhile, a black lab puppy named Garth fulfills his destiny to become that most esteemed of all creatures: a guide dog.

Guiding Emily is a heartwarming tale of love, loss, and courage as Garth and Emily make their way to each other.
