Slamdance 2021 - A Tiny Ripple of Hope with Director Jason Polevoi

Published: Feb. 25, 2021, midnight

We're bringing you another Slamdance conversation with Jason Polevoi, director of the documentary A Tiny Ripple of Hope. This powerful doc follows a tumultuous year in the life of Jahmal Cole, the founder and Executive Director of My Block, My Hood, My City, a non-profit that provides underprivileged Chicago youth with an awareness of the world and opportunities beyond their neighborhood. We discuss the effects of segregation in Chicago, the power of community, the downside of prioritizing your cause before yourself, and the struggles of being an independent filmmaker while holding down a full time job.

We hope this conversation inspires you to get involved! Jahmal's story is a reminder that every action (large or small) can create a ripple. For more ways to support My Block, My Hood, My City, click HERE.
