Basic Bitch with Social Worker Kimberly Mangarin

Published: June 29, 2020, 6:33 p.m.

We're basic bitching with guest Kimberly Mangarin, a program supervisor for community based programs that deal with under-served children and families. We get into the Defund the Police movement, and Oakland Unified School District's vote to replace the police with mental health workers. Kim shares her thoughts on why social workers are better equipped to deal with situations the police are simply not trained to handle, and how the allocating of police funds can make a real difference towards programs that help our communities. We also discuss PRIDE month and what it's like to raise 4 year old twins during a pandemic.
