b'Most musicians want to live and work in Los Angeles, but not David! His music journey is definitely not traditional at all. From playing rock concerts to teaching film, to then entering the music industry off the stage, he\\u2019s done it all. His music has been in some of the biggest shows including Queer Eye For the Straight Guy and Friday Night Lights. He even plays a small piece for Reena! Tune into this week\\u2019s episode of Better Call Daddy: The Safe Space for Controversy for more!\\n\\xa0\\nDavid Melbye, originally from Los Angeles, has headed down two semi-related professional paths. The first has been music composing, recording, producing, and promoting. Beginning after college, he has run a series of acoustic and electric rock/folk projects, producing several albums, touring the U.S. and overseas, and garnering copious international press praise. His music has appeared in popular TV shows including: Friday Night Lights, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and One Life to Live. At the same time, David has been pursuing film and media professorship and scholarship. He earned his Masters and Ph.D. in Cinema and Television from USC\\u2019s School of Cinematic Arts. He also holds a Masters in English Literature and a Bachelors in General Literature and Quantitative Economics. David taught a broad range of media courses around Southern California, and then headed overseas, living and teaching in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, China, and Russia. So far, he has published two academic studies, one on psychological landscapes in literature, art, photography, and cinema, and the other on use of irony as social critique in the classic Twilight Zone television series.
