Christians attempt to ”imitate” Jesus when they are maltreated. Their motive is ”do what Jesus would do”. However, God ’s objective during trial is to use the circumstance to compel us to entrust ourselves to the Holy Spirit that He might manifest Christ in us if maltreated. When Christ suffered, he committed Himself to Him that judges righteously (1 Pet. 2:23)
