Welcome to the Behind The Mike Show! Tonight we discussed a couple of things relevant to tax season one of which is the IRS Phone Scam is back. Basically someone phones you and says that they are a representative of the IRS and they berate you and threaten arrest and prison time if you do not pay the "money you owe". Keep in mind that the IRS will NEVER call you or send you an email to contact you for any reason; it will always be in the form of snail mail. Also, the federal government reports that 3-6 million people will owe the IRS the tax penalty of $95 or 1% of your household income for NOT having healthcare...see how affordable this is? Meanwhile, the will increase in 2015 to $325 or 2% of household income.
