Gathering 97: More Than Milk and Cookies

Published: Sept. 22, 2019, 11 p.m.

Do you need more? It’s late at night and you’ve just downed a warm glass of milk with a cookie (or two), but you still find yourself hungry for more. Something more substantial, more satisfying…soul food. Perhaps, macaroni and cheese or prime rib? This predicament is the perfect example of what it means to live your life superficially and in the shallow, always looking to fill a deeper void. In the Gospel reading 1 Corinthians 3:1-2, Paul spoke of this quandary when he called out the followers of Jesus to stop living shallow lives as spiritual infants only ready for milk, not solid food. Join us this week as Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. examines how we too have become a society living in the shallow. From the way we consume news, to the superficial dialoguing by which we engage, our culture avoids diving too deeply into the spiritual and wrote. Listen and discover how you can live life differently encountering something that is deeper and beyond us all. Life that is no longer shallow, but more deeply aligned with one another and with the divine.
