Gathering 142: “How moral are you?”

Published: Aug. 3, 2020, 10 p.m.

Be careful how you answer this! If you’re like most people, you believe that you have an above average sense of morality and are generally more trustworthy and honest than everyone else. But how does one develop this sense of morality? And what does it look like to be immoral? These questions have vexed mankind for centuries. The ancients tackled this moral versus immoral dichotomy through story. And while one might expect the protagonist and antagonist to logically line up with the dichotomy, that hasn’t always been the case. Join us this week as we begin a new worship series examining the values, principles and stories of Old Testament patriarch, Abraham, for a modern society. Listen as Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. compares the ancients’ point of view about morality to a 21st century perspective through the story of Abraham. Explore the implications when being moral doesn’t always work out and why lessons about morality bear repeating in a world where making God’s love real isn’t always easy.     Recorded live at Beatitudes Church in Phoenix, AZ on 07/31/20  Preaching: Rev. Tony Minear, Ph.D.  Scripture Reader: Janelle Tapphorn  Scripture Reference: Genesis 12:10-20     If you like what you hear, consider donating at:  https://www.beatitudeschurch.org/online-giving
