Episode 24: Baseball and Movies That Left An Impression

Published: Sept. 24, 2021, 5:06 a.m.

Baseball and Whatever is back again with Episode 24. This week Greg breaks down the White Sox clinching the AL Division. He’s a little psyched about it, to say the least. Vinnie shares his thoughts on the Blue Jays/Rays sign stealing fiasco, and Justin reiterates his dislike of Matt Nagy. Wait a minute, isn’t this a baseball podcast!? The return of “That Guy” trivia also makes a return. Do you know the answer? Write in and tell us.

We then hit our “whatever” segment where we discuss movies that we consider guilty pleasures as well as those that really left an impression on us. Hear the guys talk about some classic horror movies, the Matrix, and a ton of awesome write in suggestions from our listeners. Check it out!

Greg’s “That Guy” Baseball Trivia

  • Was a mini-stud 3B/cleanup man with the D-Backs. .280/.339/.453/.792 over 6 seasons. A couple 20+ HR seasons mixed in there. Kind of went downhill towards the end of his D-Backs tenure.
  • He made the Cubs opening day roster after signing a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
  • If you take his jersey number he wore with the D-Backs and divide it by 2. That is the number he wore for the Cubs.
  • Slashed .250/.327.295 with 0 HRs with the Cubs
  • He was DFAd, cleared waivers, and sent down to Iowa to make room for Starlin Castro.
  • The Yankees picked his ass up in July but it didn't last long. He finished the season with the Marlins. And if you take his jersey number he wore with the D-Backs and divide it by 6. That is the number for the Marlins.
  • **For extra credit, tell me the Marlins player that wore that number previously before he was dealt to the Rangers a week earlier.
  • He’s currently coaching a 14U Travel girls softball team in NC, and I believe one of his daughters plays on the team as well.
