In January 2016, Florencia visited Lake Atitlan, Guatemala to study metaphysical practices. There, she was introduced to cacao during a ceremony led by a Mayan day-keeper, a guardian of Mayan wisdom. Florencia had a powerful and life-changing moment. She knew that she was the bridge between the Mayan elders and modern New Yorkers; and eventually the world.\\xa0

With the guidance of Nana Marina Cruz, a Mayan wisdom keeper from the T\'zutujil\\xa0community in Guatemala, Florencia began her journey with cacao.\\xa0

Florencia and her brother, Frederico, launched Cacao Laboratory with the intentions of community, connection, sustaining Mother Earth, and giving back to the farmers in South America.
