I Love You, You Hate Me is a limited doc series chronicling the rise and fall of Barney the Dinosaur's furious backlash — and what it says about the human need to hate. From Barney-bashing to frat parties to homicidal video games, something in American society broke into a million pieces, and it's never been put together again… or is this just who we were all along?

Known for taking the ordinary—people, places, events—and finding the extraordinary within it, Tommy Avallone is an American filmmaker and the head of Double Windsor Films. His filmography retains a common emotional component throughout: heart.

Prior to directing I LOVE YOU, YOU HATE ME, Whoopi Goldberg executive produced his film, Waldo on Weed, about a Philadelphia father’s attempts to help his six-month-old son survive eye cancer through the use of cannabis oil. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019 and was officially released in 2020 with rave reviews.
