The Daily Mess Four Day Work Week

January 18, 2023 So much has been written about making the business world a four day work week. Being an admitted workaholic who has spent the past four decades in Broadcasting and everything connected, I’ve spent many nights arguing with those who feel four days are better. During the Covid lockdown of 2020 I was reintroduced to this thing called life. The new calling was to look into the soul of my desires to endlessly work and get it under control. Four day work week. Studies show four days lower the level of employees burning out. Less fatigue, anger, heart disease and alcohol and drug abuse. The Mayo Clinic points out that burnout isn’t a medical diagnosis. It’s a lack of control. With my current four day a week schedule I’ve lost natural weight, lowered my blood pressure and enjoyed longer conversations with family and friends because there’s no rush to get to the next event. I fully understand dedication, loyalty and determination but in the end those giving you a paycheck are constantly behind closed doors looking for ways to fire you. Twitter just let go of 18,000 more. Microsoft announced they’re laying off 10,000. Amazon is right there with this. Get control.
