In 2013 the band that would later become ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) was born. However this band was named Super NintenBros.

Vocalist and Guitar player Sidney Pierce, And Vocalist and Guitar player Steven Berroteran, had a vision of making awesome music which blended metal with many other genres, but doing it in a way that was still accessible to the largest number of people possible.

“Metal is slept on” -Sidney Pierce

After playing many local shows however, The journey was unfortunately cut short. Steven moved further away, had a kid, and was very busy in with his masters program, and Sidney had decided to pursue a career in the restaurant industry working very long managerial hours.

So after 2 years the group slowly fizzled out. Sidney stopped playing guitar basically entirely for roughly three years after that. Steve on the other hand went on to play in an actual metal band Decipher The Fallen about a year later.

Then one day Sid had, had enough of the mundane and picked up his guitar. Shocked by the high quality of what he produced he decided to reach out to Steve. “Bro listen to this tite s***” And Steve agreed, it was tite. They both admitted that they missed the old group. Not just the fun of playing with each other, but also the SOUND. So they decided to give it one more shot.

They immediately started writing songs and booking shows as quickly as possible and even began to gain some momentum, winning the battle of the bands at Sac State in 2017, and opening for We The Kings. The momentum, however, wasn’t enough. Still not seeing the results they had hoped for with their music they decided, hopefully, to try shifting their focus from playing shows, to marketing and making internet content.

So in addition to playing shows they invested money into adds, they worked with agencies to help grow their social media, they started a YouTube Channel, they released singles, they released lyric videos, they gave away shirts, they gave away sunglasses with their logo, they gave away stickers, but unfortunately nothing seemed to work…

So one last strategy was still worth trying…. “Let’s just make an album so good that people can’t ignore us” -Sidney

So Sidney got a new laptop. Sidney got new speakers. Sidney got a music interface. Sidney bought a soundproof sheet to make a makeshift studio is his bedroom. Sidney got Logic Pro X. Sidney got a ton of plug ins. Then Sidney taught himself how to use it all and proceeded to record the album that changed everything.

Having no formal training, once Sidney had reached the limits of he could do Sid and Steve outsourced the rest of the project (mixing/mastering) to Arthur Indrikov. A producer in London England who was ecstatic to finally work with real instruments again lol

During this portion of the process however something happened they caught both Sid and Steve off guard… What they got back from Arthur sounded GOOD. They had anticipated something great, but what they got back, to them, sounded BETTER. they knew they were on the right track, but something still felt off… and it was the brand.

Super NintenBros was a fun band. It was a party band. It was a group of people that you wanted to get trashed with. But it was not to be taken seriously. But Sid and Steve knew that this album, WAS to be taken seriously. Their goal was to make music so good that it gave people goose bumps/chills so they thought it fitting to have a name and brand that reflected that. ASMR was born.

It was no longer enough to just make good music. The goal became to change the entire music game. Blending as many genres as possible, in the most accessible way, to bring together people from different backgrounds and give the current radio culture a run for its money by progressing the standard of music as a whole. That’s also how the name of the album Alternative Progress came to be.

Now, after feeling as though they achieved their goal of creating something so spectacular it would have to grab people’s attention. They are poised for lift off looking for the proper channels to help take them to the public.
