Founded in 1968 by Aubrey "Po" Powell and Storm Thorgerson, the graphic design studio Hipgnosis gained legendary status in the late 1960s and through the 1970s and 80s by transforming the look of album art for such bands as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, The Police, Genesis, and The Who, and artists Paul McCartney, Syd Barrett, and Peter Gabriel.
