Best known for finding the wreck of the Titanic, celebrated undersea explorer Robert Ballard is sharing a lifetime of stories about exploring the ocean depths. In Into the Deep: A Memoir from the Man Who Found Titanic, the legendary explorer reveals insider secrets about his famous finds, details the long search for Amelia Earhart, and discloses previously untold stories about his own dyslexia and how it has impacted his life. Ballard teamed up with Christopher Drew, an award-winning New York Times investigative journalist, to write this deeply personal memoir.

Serving as a companion piece to the book, National Geographic will also premiere the documentary special BOB BALLARD: AN EXPLORER’S LIFE June 14, 2021. The one-hour special takes an intimate look back on Ballard’s life by using the vast archives of National Geographic, first-hand accounts and never-before-seen footage to reveal the inside stories behind the pioneer’s most exciting discoveries.

Into the Deep is the definitive story of the dangers, discoveries, conflicts and triumphs that have shaped the remarkable life of an American hero—the intrepid explorer who has accomplished 157 expeditions so far and is already dreaming up his next adventure.
