Tyler Perry’s House of Payne – the #1 rated comedy series on cable among African Americans for 2020 – tells the story of a multigenerational, working class family who experiences all of life’s struggles with faith, love and most importantly humor. The Paynes – now in their eighth season – are back Tuesday nights on BET and here to tell you about what’s in store for upcoming episodes is Cassi Davis Patton, who plays the matriarch of the family, Ella Payne.

Cassi Davis Patton’s acting career began in 1988 with her role in the Spike Lee film, School Daze. In addition to House of Payne, her TV credits include Living Single, Chicago Hope and the claymation show The PJ’s with Eddie Murphy. She’s worked extensively with Tyler Perry on his stage plays and movie projects. Her film credits include Boycott, Daddy’s Little Girls, Madea’s Big Happy Family, Boo! A Madea Halloween, and Boo 2! A Madea Halloween. On the stage, she’s appeared in Barefoot In The Park, Madea Goes To Jail, What’s Done In The Dark, Aunt Bam’s Place, Madea’s Neighbors From Hell, Madea On The Run and Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Farewell Tour.
