Amazon Freevee’s new docu-style comedy series, Jury Duty, chronicles the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one particular juror, Ronald Gladden. What Gladden doesn’t know is that the entire case is fake, everyone except him is an actor, including James Marsden, and everything that happens — inside the courtroom and out — is carefully planned.

Jury Duty originated with a question: Was it possible to make a sitcom like The Office about a trial, populate it with brilliant comedic performers, and put a real person at the center of the show who doesn’t realize he's surrounded by actors? Ronald Gladden, a solar contractor from San Diego, CA, is the hero of the story, and completely unaware this is not an official jury duty summons. James Marsden stars as an alternate version of himself alongside an ensemble cast of comedic actors.

Alan Barinholtz (father of comedy actors Ike and Jon Barinholtz) was a Chicago-based attorney for most of his life, and now – in his first major acting role – Alan portrays the judge presiding over one of the most outlandish court cases in TV history. Alan, who can also be seen in History of the World Part II, can share his experiences in this uniquely inventive comedy experiment.
