A League of Their Own (1992)

Hello, wastelanders! And welcome to Hot Dave’s Summer Film Fest: Part III - The Summer Games: Extra Innings! I’m your host and team manager, Dave, and joining me as we batter up for the final final installment of The Summer Games are fellow cinephiles and ballplayers Janna, Kara, and Jackie.

I, for one, am glad that this group of ladies stormed the Funderdome and forced a screening of Penny Marshall’s classic baseball film, A League of Their Own, lest the arena be burned to the ground. I totally do not see this as an act of aggression and am speaking COMPLETELY of my own free will.

(Note to self: Remember to reinforce the doors to the Funderdome with blast proof shielding.)

Listen as we discuss what may be Penny Marshall’s best film; we wonder if Rosie O’Donnell and the Twins are the first throuple; and finally, Geena Davis and her extraordinary baseball skills awaken something in your host - the likes of which may shock you to your core!

That’ll do it for Hot Dave’s Summer Film Fest: Part III - The Summer Games (...for real this time). We’ll be back in the Funderdome next summer for another batch of excellent movies and discussions (and hopefully, no Air Buds). Until then, stay cool out there, wastelanders!
