Data Privacy and 911- A few in the Big Apple spoil the whole bunch

9-1-1 services in New York City took a credibility hit this week as several employees were accused of selling caller information to fake caller centers that essentially preyed on the most vulnerable callers. Geographically targeted were victims whose home addresses reflected they were in less affluent NY communities, therefore less likely to notice the scam being pulled off. While the requests for emergency assistance were never delayed, and first responders were dispatched properly, what did go off the rails occurred well after the emergency ended and during the follow up to the incident. Fletch sits down with APN legal correspondent Martha Buyer to discuss the story, and examine the complexities of trusted information to authoritative entities.
