The return of convicted dog killer Michael Vick to the NFL continues to generate heated discussions and the fact that he signed with Philadelphia is significant.  The city of Brotherly Love has a major dogfighting problem according to Humane Society chief executive Wayne Pacelle. In a recent phone interview, Pacelle said, “Vick's landing there has the potential to turn around the issue. This gives us a big boost.”  No word yet on if the controversial player will donate any of his earnings to animal welfare organizations. What's with the deluge of GPS based ID tags for pets? Do they work? Just like everything else, some are good and some are bogus. Bobbie Hill is testing the 'Slater Locator." Animal Radio's Summer Giveaway is getting bigger with the addition of Haagen Daz Ice Cream and a years supply of premium cat litter. Listeners will qualify twice on-air. Should you really give the dog a bone. "NO!" One listener calls in for medical advice, thinking it was okay to give his pooch a treat - that would later tear up the pup's intestine. What kind of guy would steal a dog for his kid? One brainiac did it while on visitation with his daughter. Where does Britt find these losers? Remember the dog in Pixar's “Up?”... that collar that translated thoughts to speech.  According to the Daily Mail - a Japanese toy company claims to have invented a “translator collar for dogs”.  Takara Tomy said its “Bowlingual Voice” translator can distinguish six different emotions - joy, sadness, happiness, frustration, neediness and danger alert.  The product is scheduled to hit Japanese consumers this month but no word yet on when the 200 dollar device will hit U.S. store shelves.
