Rodriguez who as a child in the late 1930’s, trained at the traditional Spiritualist Temple operated by her father in Cuba, and continues her spiritualist work to this day. She is a Lukumi priestess of 42 years to the Orisha Yemaya, and a founding member of the Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye.  As this show is in both Spanish and English, Iya Carmen will be joined by Oba Oriate Ernesto Pichardo, Lukumi Elder and president of the Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye, who will act as translator.
