Accident reconstruction is dependent upon the accuracy of visualizations to build and maintain credibility and admissibility. Photogrammetry relies heavily on this accuracy when creating 3D scenes and objects from two-dimensional images. Part of that process is to determine the amount of distortion that a camera lens has on an image it produced. Toby Terpstra and Justin Holderness discuss the research methods used to help determine the importance of removing lens distortion in regards to photogrammetry.
