21 July 2024 Surah 24 v59-61 27th session\n\nThe Verse of Food\n\n'O Foolish one, recite The Verse of Food.'\n\nIbn Abbas (ra) recites Surah 4 v29 'O believers do not eat up property unjustly unless via trade'.\nand states this is abrogated by Surah 24 v61 'there is no sin if you eat in your own houses...'\n\nIbn Abbas (ra), the unbelievers try to make you doubt Islam , you don't eat that which is killed by Allah SWT (where animals die of natural causes) but you eat what you kill with your hands.\nThr Sahaba related this to The Messenger \ufdfa, Surah 6 v121 is revealed - 'Shaiteen inspire their friends to argue with you..'\n\nThe food of The People of The Book is made permissible, Surah 5 v5.\n\nFood of a Siddiqui - 'intimate friend.'\nHassan Al Basri (rah) in the absence of the market trader, eats dates & figs.\n\nHisham asks 'O Abu Syed, how can you reconcile piety with this eating?\n\nHassan al basri (rah), 'O foolish one recite The Verse of Food'... (verse 61)\n'O Siddique Qum'- a friend whose soul & heart is at rest.\n\nHarith ibn Amr (ra) was away and asked Malik ibn Zyd (ra) to house-sit, Harith (ra) returns and finds Malik (ra) in a weak state... 'I have not taken a morsel from the house', The Verse of Food is revealed, verse 61.\n\n'Eat together so Allah SWT blesses the food.'\n\nThe piety level of The Sahaba was extremely high so Allah SWT lowered it.
