From the beginning Esau and Jacob were fighting and trying to out do one another. The promise is only to one of them, Jacob or Israel. What has YHWH said about Esau? You can look at things through the eyes of the flesh (Esau) or you can look at things through the eyes of YHWH'S Spirit and his Torah, it depends on who you are. You are either of Esau or Jacob/Israel. Israel will always win. Israel is of YHWH. Esau is of pagan gods.
