Tell\nme what you\u2019re doing at VERSES right now, and I want to get the full\nunderstanding of what is VERSES, and why it\u2019s important for people\nlistening.\n\n\n\nGabriel: So I guess the first\nplace to start is way back in 1990 or so. There was a young, talented\nresearcher by the name of Tim Berners-Lee, who was working at the\nCERN Institute, and he was developing a new set of technologies which\nhave come to be known as the World Wide Web protocols. So those are\nall the HTTP, which was hypertext transfer protocol, and HTML, which\nis a hypertext markup language. That, combined with a browser, which\nhe developed as an open source standard, and on top of the domain\nstructure that had been pre-existing \u2014 which we\u2019d been using from\nthe email era of .coms and .edu, .org, etc. \u2014 he created this you\nURL format, which essentially made pages programmable, gave us the\nability to link content on those pages, and the ability to network\nthose pages. This, of course, became the World Wide Web. \n\n\n\n\nThe majority of our technologies and\npower and advantages and capability today, whether in business or\npersonal lives, in public or private sector, come from the benefits\nof these core protocols that enable the network.
