The opponents of Jesus persist in their efforts to try and trap and discredit Jesus. They first question him in regards to the paying of taxes to Caesar, and then challenge him on the legitimacy of the resurrection of the dead. In both cases, Jesus shows he is more than up to the challenge. We need be mindful that when we bring our questions to Christ, if only trying to prove our own point, we too will find the wisdom of Christ far exceeds our own.
1. An effort to discredit (vs. 13-14)
2. Jesus knew their hypocrisy (vs. 15-17)
3. An attempt to ridicule (vs. 18-23)
4. Jesus highlights their ignorance (vs. 24-27)
